What Does Growth on Instagram Look Like to You?
For many people growing on Instagram can mean a plethora of things…
Maybe it’s your following, engagement, consistency or more brands noticing you?
Before I dive in I must say as wonderful as this platform is - numbers do not define you and there is room for everyone.
Wonderful! Now that we have that out of the way…
Here’s what you should be paying attention to when it comes to growing on Instagram.
Your "Why?"
I feel like this is something you may have heard a lot and might even be sick of hearing but if you haven’t figured this part out yet… stop reading and take some time to think this over.
“Your WHY” is powerful and will ultimately be the driving force. Maybe your mission is to help women find the most affordable styles or maybe it’s to scream from the rooftops how important health is?
Whatever it is - own it and live by it. With this you will have a vision and be focused. If you’re all over the place with your “why” you’ll eventually feel discouraged, disorganized and more importantly, your audience will be confused.
Are you being true to yourself?
There are exactly 500,000 active influencers on Instagram in 2020. So, to sum it up for ya… if you’re a blogger + influencer you my friend, are in a very saturated industry.
But don’t sweat it! Cause not everyone is YOU.
If you’re following the crowd all the time, you will get lost in the shuffle.
People love when you are being genuine and not just showing life’s highlight reels. It can be very difficult to be vulnerable to a mass group of strangers but if you’re trying to build a strong community then it’s important to open up to them.
Are you taking time to create quality content?
We’ve all been there. You want to post something on the Gram but you currently don’t have anything lined up so you decide to dive deep into the depths of your camera roll to find something, “eh good enough” to post?
Just don’t do it!
Be proud of the content you create - post quality and not just for quantity.
Are you adding Value to your community?
This is very important. If you’re looking to grow an audience it’s vital that you are providing people with value. This could be encouraging words that they seek out, digital or physical products you know people will love! If your audience is begging you for hair styling tips… and you ignore them and talk about cars and technology instead you’re going to lose some connections.
I used to post a bunch of outfits and lookbook inspirations for the season (which I like to still do from time to time) but I realized my audience didn’t really care what I thought was trending … instead my DM and inbox flooded with me asking to share my social media tips, how i landed my job in influencer marketing and beyond!
So here I am writing this post… hoping to bring value to those who are asking!
Outfit Details: Teddy Bear Coat by Amazon, Shoes by Aldo, Jeans by Primark, Top By Madewell, Hat by Red Dress Boutique
As always I hope my words help and inspire you.
